Following Alistair’s narrative, Andrew will design 102 beautiful panels for A Tapestry for Europe. But the journey doesn’t stop there. To make these panels come alive, we need stitchers to create their magic. We are looking for as many volunteers as possible, with connections around Europe, to take part. It doesn’t matter if you have no experience as guidance will be given, all you need is enthusiasm and time! You will also have the opportunity, with the help of Andrew Crummy, to add your story to the empty squares around your panel.
Each kit will comprise a design printed on linen, which is 1m², a coloured drawing, wools and a guidance sheet. The panel will take approximately 200-300 hours to complete.
We plan to put groups together (in postcode areas) allowing as many people as possible to take part. This can sound a little daunting at first, but from past experience we know that this works. Firm friendships are made, experiences and skills are shared.
